For those of you who don't know, Great Lakes Naval Training Center is extremely close to here (can't go to Six Flags or Gurnee Mills Mall w/out being outnumbered by uniforms). Anyway my question, I thought GLNTC was where you were sent after enlisting hence primarily just enlisted. The uniforms today were the dark ones however some wore the white sailor hats(apparently white hat goes w/summer and winter uniforms) and others had the dark (forget what to call it) hat. (My bother went to it in khaki when he made chief). God, I've been rambling so much (too damn tired)I forgot what I was going to ask... yeah, GLNTC... isn't that where you go just after you enlist?? And what's the diff in the uniforms, cute swabbie ones with wide collar on back w/cute white sailor hat vs. button down, standard collar with the nice tailored hat???
Does any of this make sense??? I've re-read it again and again... still don't know... but maybe someone will be able to figure it out (more power to you) and answer/explain it to me.
When my bro enlisted, he was sent to Orlando (yeah, tough place to be in the winter). I know that's closed now and all goes to GLNTC... but anyway even though its so close... have never had a reason to go there(GLNTC not Orlando).
