Perhaps a bit of an oversimplification, but...

it appears you derive your meaning for "leader" through the actions of the person at the moment, like a derivation of a verb.

As opposed to a description of a person and their characteristics like a derivation of an adjective.

Perhaps that is where we diverge. I consider leaders based on traits, and you seem to be considering them based on actions. Is this correct?
