So I have to say, I DON'T think we are safer than we've ever been. We're more in danger than ever of collapsing from within because of the state of the people as individuals.
And before people take this as a huge slam on humankind - I'm not saying we're all bad. What I'm saying is that too many values are not being taught. Where's the integrity? Where's the honesty? Where's the honest caring for others? Where's the willingness to obey the law? Or is it only important when it's convenient? I think a lack of the important virtues will have a greater affect than any terrorist attack or illness. And that can't be ignored like it is without a profound affect.
And I think there's a slow movement in that direction, but it's slow and underemphacized. So instead of telling people they're safer than they've ever been, I think it would be more beneficial to say, "You're safer from X, Y, Z, than you've ever been, so spend your time, money and energy on A, B, C."
(It's been a long day, so I'll post this and then read it tomorrow to see what doesn't make sense. LOL)
