Qs for all: joining a new company

when you're joining a new company or maybe a new department/division, what would make your "orientation" awesome? Or what would you do to make a new person feel welcome to your group/company? And how long would this "orientation" last (1 day, 1 week, etc.)?

Any ideas appreciated. Thank you all!
