I agree with you

We aren't as self sufficient as we should be. It's too expensive, not to mention too difficult, to be fully redundant in all that we do. But I'm still not following how giving them business is going to hurt us militarily. We're not fully insulated, but we're not completely vulnerable. I'm still missing that piece. I don't see the threat for anything more than a little damage.
