Stop or skim (spoilers for ABOSAA)
Posted by Janet W. on 10/6/2005, 10:46:42, in reply to "Okay, I'm shocked about all you reader cheaters!"
I'm almost physically (mentally?) incapable of stopping reading a book once I've started but I go into high skim mode ... just stopping for the vital details on my way to throwing the book in the ubs bag. I may have snuck a peak or two at the end of a book but what I'm more likely to do is read a part I know will upset me like what I've read happens to Claire in Gabaldon's latest book: almost to desentitize myself and stop myself worrying about it. The old "devil you know" being less scary than what you're worrying about. Is that about as clear as mud? It's still early in California. Sunny, beautiful, mist rising from the smoky grey waters of the SF Bay ... winter here means rain. Janet
