never morally, perhaps ethically and certainly politically. I was giving a talk to my sons' elementary school following my return fron Iraqi and Afhganistan--it was from 3-8th grade so I was fielding everything from did I get to use the new super blaster 300 to what did I think the longterm sociopolitical effect of our presence in the middle east would be. SO one girl asks, did I think the US was right in invading Iraq. I beged off on answering but at the end I decided she deserved an answer. So I said something to the effect that I absolutely believe that what we were doing in Afghanistan is correct. In order to do what we did there you must maintain a professional military that is prepared to follow orders. One hopes the orders are well thoughtout truthful and legal--but in the end, the orders legality is the only grounds on which you can challenge--so in order to be able to do Afghanistan, you must also be willing to do Iraq.
I do not believe I have recieved or carried out an illegal order--I thought the war on drugs was stupid--at least the way we were doing (do not engage) but, stupidity is not against the law--
