Anita Roddick and The Body Shop

Posted by Deborah on 2/21/2006, 19:31:07, in reply to " how does money alone make a country that much more powerful? And why do they plan to do with it"
she summed it up in a book called Body and Soul (out ages ago, probabyy out of print at this point). She said the trick was to make all the economies so interwoven and interdependent that it would be totally stupid to go to war with each other because you would be damaging your own downline and interferring with your own cash flow. At the same time, they would be in the same position... don't bomb the hand that sends you business and keeps food on your table.

In a totally global marketplace where everybody is getting a piece of the pie nobody wants to upset the production model. In a world where some are producing and others are on the outside looking in, the people on the outside looking in have no desire BUT to overturn the table and stop production (throw a temper tantrum if you will to get the 'haves' attention) so they can be included in the production stream. Rather than coming up with their own production stream and having something to offer, they try to use disruption and destruction to get in the game with the big boys.

Personally... I think the total peace/harmony/everybody working together is an idealistic goal, but what the heck. If you're going to dream, dream big. It only costs a nickle more.
