And I don't think I could be married to one, either. It takes an extremely special kind of woman to be married to a SEAL.
My husband's dad was Army Intel when my husband was born, and then he went into the civilian world, still traveling every week. It never bothered his mom.
So when my husband finished school, he said he was interested in a job similar to his dad's because the pay was really good. I was really worried about being able to handle kids with him gone all the time. I told him I wanted him to do whatever he wanted, but just to make sure it was what he REALLY wanted. (We didn't have kids at the time, but we planned on it, and me staying home with them. I was working a really time consuming job, traveling often, and I was on call 24/7, so we were already experiencing being apart.)
He looked at Ranger school and the FBI. He always wanted to be a Ranger. After 9/11, he checked the age requirements again. I told him that if he chose to do something like that, I'd support him 100% and that I wanted him to decide because he would be at work the majority of his time. I wanted him happy when he was away from me, as well as when he was with me. But after talking about it, it wasn't what he REALLY wanted.
I'm glad it wasn't what he wanted most to do....we would have made it work, but it would have been really hard for me.
Kudos to your wife. I think she's amazing!!!!
