Buying power for one
Posted by Deborah on 2/21/2006, 19:42:45, in reply to "I think I'm having trouble seeing the connection"
Example: North Korea has nothing really to sell... except nuclear weapons. To keep them out of the hands of middle easteners for instance, the US is willing to pay 1 million per warhead (yeah, I know... not accurate price but easier for math purposes). China has the funds available to pay 10 million for same warheads. NK sells to China. China now has power over NK because it's their buyer and is giving them money. US steps in and offers 20 million each. China has more money... offers 40 million each. NK says "HOT DAYUM" and goes into mass production with it's newfound wealthstream and now we're in a bidding war with someone who has a hell of a lot more money than we do. And how did they get that money? We gave it to them. With every china made item we buy and every american job we export over there. We hand them hard cold capital to outbid us and outflank us in damned near any way they want to.
