That is part of the heritage--back in the day the old timers had nothing--they started the technology drive rolling which led us to where we are today--the best equipped force ever to take the field--or water. But those guys were hard as nails. We were have a conference about how to change Navy Special Warfare for the better---and we were discussing heritage and what we were about--the best in the water--the best small unit etc etc--so, finally, after listening to a bunch of pablum I finally stood up and said "Look, our heritage isn't about small units or being the best in the water..they lined a hundred guys up and said, hey fellas, we are going to put together a new unit. Our job is going to be to swim into an enemy beach with no weapons under whithering fire and try and plant explosives on obstacles and blow up mines---the three guys out of a hundred that stepped forward are our heritage---hmm, no body else wants to do it? I'll take the job!
