they were not nearly as complex as we had anticipated. The ones that I was in were just caves with no improvements--they are everywhere in the mountains. Some of the caves that I saw photos of where improved but nothing like the DUGS (Deep Underground Systems) that we had anticipated. A lot of the caves we were searching were near the Khyber Pass in the Tora Bora Mountains around the major smuggling routes into Pak. The herders used them to shelter their animals--which made them really special
