"They" only have power, in that their actions influence the choices "we" make economically. Because we have always had a cyclical economy, we are used to the economy going up and down, but if they can consistently influence us to make choices that, in the long run, will be progressively more and more detrimental to our self interests, then whatever upturns the economy takes are just a temporary short term gains. Because we have made choices that will have negative consequences in the future and that when those negative consequences start to seriously take effect it will be too late to undo the choices that set us on the economic downturn.----Or something to that effect. I am so out classed by you all in this kind of discussion it's not funny. But those are my thoughts anyway:)
