Suz's Dad was in the Army.....
Posted by Suz's Mom on 11/13/2005, 22:03:35, in reply to "Role call of our fathers: How many of us are children of WWII veterans or veterans from other wars?"
for two years, at the very end of the Korean War. Of course, that was before Suz was born. We were already married, and I was teaching 5th grade, and he went to Fort Bliss, Texas, for his training (and I was teaching in New Jersey!), and we thought he would be sent overseas. We didn't know the war was ending, and we were scared, of course. But, at the last minute, he was sent to New Jersey (!) to a radar unit that was protecting the George Washington Bridge! And didn't he do a great job of it? The Bridge is still there!
Love to all the Veterans out there, and especially to all Suz's readers who are related to them, Lee B. (Suz's Mom)
