My Father-in-law was in the Army

He was another of the guys that chose to enlist rather than be drafted. He served in Vietnam when my husband was a few months old. He doesn't talk about it much with my husband (who also served in the Army for 10yrs, as well as both of my husband's grandfathers, Army as well)but he will sit down and talk to me about it if I ask. If he volunteers info, you'd better listen because he won't very often!
