the M-4 with a M203 grenade launcher. Light accurate and doesn't have mechanical issues. The sigsauer 9 MM is a good weapon as a side arm. Prefer the S&W .357 revolver if I am going too be in the water a lot.
The standard body armor for combat troops is a kevlar vest with ceramic plates front and rear. We have a rig that just holds the plates and is a lot more comfortable for getting in and out of vehicles, but just provides protection center of mass. There is a lot of different stuff on the market that people are buying, but that is pretty standard and appears to be what people are still wearing.
