Tom , Major Michelle, Anybody?

It is my understanding that women did not get combat medals even though they earned them and qualified for them in Desert Storm because they still are not officialy designated as a "combat troop person". So is it still that way and A-10 pilot from below won't receive a medal that she would have if she were a man ?
