Tom, spotter question

wouldn't it make more sense to have the spotter directly behind the shooter's right shoulder? Trying for duplication of line that shooter would be taking? Wouldn't being to the side throw the information off by a fraction of a degree.

Also, shooter on which side? Does the 50 cal auto eject? If so, what side?
