I'm not a diver, but was curious about the differences( other that the obvious ,length of time) between using a rebreather or tanks? Well, th rebreather is a lot nicer but it severally limits your depth (20')and there is a chance that it can flood which is really ugly--caustic cocktail. So, for just bopping around tanks are the way to go.The MK16 is a really sweet rig--it too is a rebreather but it has a few sensors and computer that automatically adjust the oxygen to 21% regardless of pressure, so you can go deep. Very comfortable, but a little fickle to get running
A mustache can cause problems with mask seal, but nothing a little O2 safes lubricant can't fix.
And when you do a job like EOD or being a SEAL can you even buy nonmilitary life insurance?
You can get life insurance no problem, it just doesn't cover anything job related---"If I screw this up put me in the car and roll it off a cliff before you call anyone"
Caustic cocktail is when the rig floods and the stuff that scrubs the co2 out bubbles into your lungs and owwies you. After second phase (dive phase) we had a party and I invented the new caustic cocktail--tequila and hot sauce sucked out of a snorkel---really funny to watch--and good for your circulation!!
