I finally watched GI Jane (dh had already seen it) and I told him that Tom had said that women could be very useful in some assignments abroad (couple would stick out less than 2 broad shouldered American men walking down the street)and he had a couple comments. His question: If hardly any men can meet SEAL physical standards, how could women (and he used the example of separate sex events at the Olympics (except for shooting, right?). He then said if the teams could indeed use women, what about a separate women's SEAL unit - with rigorous (i.e., almost impossible) physical standards but not the same as men. But I told him I thought Tom had said, in his opinion, that women in SEALs were fine, IF they could meet the physical standards in place for men. Was that a correct interpretation of what you said? It is a rather complicated issue, imo. Janet
