THis is false. Retirement benefits are based on time served. So, although as with everything involving the law there are a lot of ins and outs, the basic rule is if you are in over twenty you get retirement. However, you get retirement based on the rank that you leave the military as, so worst case scenario for our Master Chief is that the court martial would bust him to E1 and he would retiring making about $300 a month--he would still get all VA benefits. No act of congress involved. I believe that there are a few spies in prison recieving military pensions
