One thing to remember when you can't seem to come up with an answer is this:
We learn precept on precept. If someone you know started a conversation about the things we've been discussing, you would be much more prepared to take part now than you were a week ago.
We learn by listening to different points of view, and then selecting the parts that make sense to us as individuals, adding those parts together to form our own belief system. That's why I loved philosophy. It was fascinating to learn so many points of view, and then decide what I believed.
We just need to keep adding to our files of knowledge. It's not a matter of "common" folk, it's a matter of "still adding to my collection of awareness and understanding."
I'm confident that there are several subjects we could attempt to discuss in which you would kick my a$$!
