I don't expect to see the changes that I would like in the near future. But I'd LIKE to see them in my lifetime. I think it's going to take a lot of work and a significant amount of time to bring about changes, not necessarily in government, but in participation.
And isn't that a nice thought....what we could have done in a different time and place. You have made your voice heard and I think that's great. I haven't been very vocal, in any way other than my opinions. My efforts have focused with my kids and their needs (especially with a special needs daughter). THAT one got me interested in how my government's decisions are effecting me.
So now I want to make a difference. I'm not political. I don't like arguing about beliefs because I think we're all entitled to our own. But if the government wants to tell me that my daughter isn't eligible for help in school because her diagnosis hasn't been added to the DSM book yet, because the new edition hasn't yet been published, well, now I have something to say! (Note: she's getting help now.)
And then I realize that it's a lot harder for my voice to be heard because we dropped the ball as a nation and let go of the reins. Then the lead dogs forged ahead and are going where they want to go. So I hope that we can figure out how to get those reins back. I hope that we can get our voices heard again so that our message gets through.
And it's late and I can't think anymore because I really wasn't kidding when I said Tom killed my brain. :)
Have a good night....can I get back to you tomorrow?
