The story

I saved Tom's version. Actually, I e-mailed it to friends who know my dog, a champion barker, who is constantly barking at things I can't see. Now I look extra hard :-)

"Okay, I am a lane grader for a Platoon going through training--that means I grade just what I see, not the overall op..So we are patrolling through this small town in Virginia close to a base doing an urban op. the local police know we are out and about and if confronted I as the unarmed guy is suppose to call the cops so they can come and explain. So we are basically cutting through this guys backyard (ain't it grand?) and his dog starts barking so sixteen heavily armed guys go to ground--plus me. Dog is barking barking barking. Back light goes on--guy comes out--I am sure we are busted----he hits the dog with a paper and tells it to shut up and goes back in side. The dog laid down, put his head on his paws and watched us go ----we laughed and left ."
