it's the "illusion of security".
In US airports the breaches are blantant and occurring daily. People piggy back through secured doors, airlines don't change their doors codes as required etc.
I too think the extra security we see is merely an illusion, and that it's only for the law-abiding, as otherwise there is usually a way to breach it.
