I think the double standard comes from the existence of class in society

Money creates social class divides. Yes racism exists. But probable less so in the South, than most people think. The South, carries the brand of the big "R". However, it is much less than the national stereotype would have people believe. On a one on one basis, poverty doesn't care what color you are: It sucks! The individuals who have a vested interest in keeping the "R" stereotype alive don't want you to know about the very large and very affluent growing number of wealthy people of African-American heritage in our country.

But it remains sadly true that the poor that were unable to evacuate NO were mostly African-American. But there were those people not of color too, the disabled, the elderly (don't get me started on the 30 elderly people in that nursing home who died!!) the severely mentally ill, and the runaways who flocked to NO because of the weather and the party life.

When the investigations start, there is going to be enough blame to circle around our country several times. But revenge is sweet, because I don't see anyone from any of the gulf states not bothering to vote in any future elections, do you?
