Have you ever worked with our British Special Forces. Apart from rare glimpses on TV Iranian Embassy seige and some Al Jezeera tapes of Afghanistan we see very lttle of what goes on with our special forces. I mean we know we have the SBS and SAS and we now have some books written by the likes of Andy McNab and Chris Ryan.
You go to our Royal Navy and Army website they do not even acknowledge that they exist.
So we usually find out more about our special forces from outside of Britain than we do in the UK. Although as an army spouse during the troubles in Ireland we were all considered legitimate military targets and wives and children of serving forces personnel were shot and killed I can understand the secrecy to a point.
If you have worked with them are there marked differnces in approach.
My son has worked with US forces in Bosnia and his experience is that there is a fairly different apporach, this was confirmed by Col Tim Collins Royal Irish Regt whom I had the pleasure of meeting recently. (I am not saying one is better than the other by the way just saying it is different)I was just wondering if there are differences as to how our two countries approach special ops missions.
Thanks
Maureen
