Re: Speed Kills

"Speed Kills" began in High School driver's education. Teachers intended it as a snappy slogan encouraging youngins to back off the gas pedal.

Like other such slogans ("Just say no") it was widely derided. Naturally, teenagers are far too cool for snappy slogans endorsed by educators. But then somebody made the connection with Amphetamines (aka "speed").

Thus the "Speed Kills" t-shirt evolved -- used by teenagers everywhere for nearly a generation to mock authority whilst demonstrating hip knowledge of drug slang.
