Because you are thinking---the fighting system that we were using when I left the Teams was about thinking not fighting--one of the drills, oft repeated, was you can't win (6:1)--eliminate the Jackie Chan mindset--and think about your goal---survive? not get hit again? not get raped? keep thinking and that will allow you to reach your goal
