My Dad never got over WWII. It's when he was most alive and he got to where he fixated on it more and more the older he got. Wartime was his 'Glory Days'. I didn't realize how many of the WWII generation had that mindset until I saw a movie called Last of the Blonde Bombshells. If you get a chance give it a watch. I talked to Dad about it once and he talked about the adrenlin high. He was part of the Mariannis Islands campaign and then taught survival school over in Germany 59-61. Never could let it go.
I wish you peace and happiness as you settle into civilian life. And enough adrenlin to keep you 'alive' in the present.
